SUNNYVALE, CA— Level 10 Construction announced today that it will officially break ground June 17th on the construction of Sunnyvale Fire Station #5 and Public Safety Training Center, located at Moffett Place. The groundbreaking ceremony will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the two-acre project site at 1210 Bordeaux Drive. It will be co-hosted by the City of Sunnyvale and the Jay Paul Company, who developed Moffett Place and donated the fire station to the City of Sunnyvale as one of the public benefits of the development.
The 18,000-sq.-ft. fire station and public safety training facility includes an onsite training classroom, a 50-person classroom and a 25-yard tactical indoor firing range to be used by public safety personnel. The firing range will enable public safety officers to train locally with greater availability, as opposed to traveling to and reserving limited space at other ranges. A 30,000-sq.-ft. asphalt area that borders the facility will be used for fire training.
The Sunnyvale Fire Station is adjacent to Moffett Place, a 1.9 million-sq.-ft. office campus, developed by the Jay Paul Company and built by Level 10. Located alongside Silicon Valley’s Highway 237 corridor near Highway 101, Moffett Place includes six new eight-story office buildings, three multi-level parking structures, surface parking and a two-story amenities building.
“The new fire station and equipment will enhance our ability to serve the businesses and residents in the north part of Sunnyvale, and the training facilities will give all of our personnel far greater access to and options for training, which is essential for our combined public safety model,” said Captain Carl Rushmeyer of the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety. “We’re all looking forward to seeing the new station open for service next spring.”
Level 10 Construction is scheduled to complete the fire station by the spring of 2016. The facility will be built to LEED Silver equivalent standards. Michael Chae and Larry Pellatt are the project manager and superintendent for Level 10 Construction, and DES Architects + Engineers is the project architect.
“Level 10 Construction is proud to be building Sunnyvale’s Fire Station #5,” said Dennis Giles, President of Level 10 Construction. “The Fire Station will be an important part of providing increased public safety for the entire surrounding area.”
Level 10 Construction is also the general contractor for a number of other office campus projects in Sunnyvale, including Moffett Towers Building D and Garage 4, Moffett Park Building 6 and Garage B, and Moffett Gateway.
Some of Level 10 Construction’s other current projects include 181 Fremont Street, San Francisco; Summit Rancho Bernardo, San Diego; CS Bio Company, Menlo Park; and various higher education projects for Stanford University; University of California, San Francisco; University of San Diego; and University of California, San Diego.
