SUNNYVALE, CA– Level 10 Construction has partnered with Rebuilding Together Peninsula to overhaul the Sunnyvale home of a family of four for the annual kickoff to National Rebuilding Day, on Jan. 30, the organization’s Super Bowl-sanctioned event. Planning for the project began in November and went into high gear on January 1st when the demolition of the house began.

Level 10 Construction crews have spent the past month volunteering their time to take apart the deteriorating home and prepare it for the Rebuilding Day team. On Saturday, January 30th approximately 60 volunteers from Lowe’s, HC Structural Engineering, San Francisco 49ers, Bridgestone, Medallia and Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety Services will work alongside Level 10 Construction and Rebuilding Together Peninsula to put the finishing touches on the home.

“Level 10 Construction is pleased to work with Rebuilding Together Peninsula to sponsor and co-manage the rebuilding of this home,” said Danielle Douthett, VP of Operations for Level 10 Construction. “As part of the rebuild, we have demolished half the home down to the studs. We look forward to the successful completion of the work on behalf of the homeowner.”

Ronnie, the 77-year-old homeowner, has lived in the home since 1959 when he purchased it with his late wife, Patty. Over time, Ronnie and Patty could not keep up with the sky-high cost of living in Silicon Valley, and the condition of their home started to slip. Paint started peeling, mold was growing along the bedroom walls, windows had broken throughout the house, and the old roof started leaking into the home. They simply could not afford to make the necessary repairs.

Before passing away last year, Patty had always wanted to fix up the home, specifically for Liz, their youngest granddaughter, a single mother raising two young children, Reyna (5) and Alonso (4). Liz and her children moved six different times over the past five years, and on the brink of homelessness, made the decision to move in with her grandparents in Sunnyvale.

For 27 years Rebuilding Together Peninsula has been partnering with major Bay Area companies like Level 10 Construction to rehabilitate homes and community facilities of

low-income neighbors in need and vulnerable communities. These rehabilitation projects encourage volunteerism, preserve existing affordable housing, and allow Peninsula residents to remain in the community and live affordably.

“I continue to be amazed by our partners, like Level 10 Construction, who come to the table with their time, skill, and resources on behalf of those who need it most,” said David Cattivera, executive director at Rebuilding Together Peninsula. “Projects like this make me proud to be a part of the Bay Area community.”

Companies like Lowe’s, HC Structural Engineering, Clark Pest Control, Roto-Rooter,

Critchfield Mechanical, Inc., and many more, all rallied around the family to help make their home safe and livable.

“I’m really grateful to have this opportunity,” said Liz. “My mom raised us here, and Grandpa has us here with the kids. I would struggle, and Grandma would always tell me she wanted to help and give the back rooms to us. I really feel it’s a blessing to all of us, and that we’re doing this in her honor.”
